Within walking distance

It only takes a few minutes to walk to Håkan from our new apartment. Today, I’ve gone back and forth twice – what a difference from the long trips to Linköping.

We asked Håkan if there was anything he wanted. “A little smoked mackerel, please…” So, this evening we went up to Håkan with a little mackerel. Oh, how satisfied he was!

Håkan has said for several days that his leg hurts. He’s waited several days for the doctor, but today it was an assistant nurse (LPN) who took him seriously. You who know my husband know that he isn’t the type to make a big deal of things, but now they rushed him down for x-rays, and they discovered that Håkan had a blood clot in his leg.

This is very common, after months in bed. I know that in Linköping, Håkan was given medicine to prevent this, but now Håkan has been so active, so they haven’t taken him seriously when he said that his leg hurt.

We had planned to write something together on the blog, so you would get an extra greeting from Håkan, but after all the excitement, there wasn’t much energy left this evening, so we’ll do it another day.

This week Håkan and I have read through everything on the blog together. We have made it through all of March and April. Håkan cries, and so do I. Imagine that I can sit and read to him about the time he was sedated, and in that way, he can make up the time he’s lost, in a concentrated form.

When Håkan heard all the comments that were written by new and old friends, it was almost too much for him. I don’t know how many tissues we went through.

This week we will read through all of May. Soon we will come to July, so if you have something to say to Håkan, write on the blog!

Please pray for Håkan’s leg. Håkan sends a big THANKS to you all!

Blessings from God!

Hugs
Gunilla

  1. Hello Dear Friend,
I think of you every day when my computer turns on and I see your face on the screen saver as a reminder to pray for you. We have followed your progress in Mankato and rejoice in God to hear the good news as each week shows improvement in your condition. We are glad to know Gunilla can walk to see you now and look forward to when you walk together at home rather than the hospital. We are looking forward to seeing you and Gunilla in the States when your healing is complete. This was a wonderful weekend for us with the wedding of Jennifer Crouse (Dr Roger Crouse oldest daughter -'Superbowl Party') and her husband Michael Kneefe. We had friends from Kai & Lilla Serhold church in Horrid come to the wedding. Caroline Eklund and her sister Charlotte. We are having a wonderful time hearing Swedish spoken in our houses and even learning a little here and there. It has been wonderful. We are glad your faith in God has been for the healing of others and has come back to you as a witness through your own healing. Give our love to all from Mankato MN. In Christ, Pat & Theresa

  4. Hi Hakan & Gunilla,
I cry almost every time I read your blog because of your incredible hearts and faith, and because of the goodness of God. Watching God's miracle power working in your lives through these past few months has been a privilege and an amazing experience.

We send your blog updates to the whole church here in Omaha each week, and are committed to praying for you continually! I don't think a day goes by that we don't think of you and pray for you.

We look forward to your full recovery and to the day when we will see you again here in the States. Oh what a great time of rejoicing that will be!

Hakan & Gunilla, your lives have deeply touched ours! Thank you for allowing us to share in your lives by continuing to post your progress here on the blog. It has greatly helped us to know how to pray for you all! We love you!

  5. Dear Hakan and Gunilla,
The children here pray for both of you every day.
They have been so faithful to remember. I tell them all the good news from the blogs and we thank God for each new step.
I have been posting each blog on the board for all to see and pray. You're filling up a whole notebook! What a testimony to the goodness of God.
We have started an intercession group here and Steve and I are sharing what the Lord has taught us (just as you said the last few times you were here, Hakan.)
    All our love and prayers

  6. Dear Hakan and Gunilla,
It is so awesome that you both can share together in reading these blogs! It's another step, another miracle! Your lives are a testimony of God's goodness and powerful greatness! What we see and hear builds our faith. Thank you for keeping us informed. It must take alot of time out of your already busy day to write to us, but we so appreciate it. Mary prints these blogs and puts them on our bulletin board for everyone to read, so I read them there and also on my computer. Your picture is also on our bulletin board and on many computer screen savers as a reminder for prayer, but you know, God puts you on our hearts often to pray. I think that you both are very special to Him. And, you are very special to us, as well.

As you say, Gunilla , "We will meet together in prayer for Hakan." And so it is. We will be faithful to pray.

Bud sends his greetings and his love. We love you. Be encouraged. God is near, an ever present help in time of need.

    Love,
