Easter Monday

On Easter Monday, the men on the road to Emmaus are the focus of attention – how they walked along and were so sad that they didn’t even recognize Jesus when he walked beside them. I shared that with Håkan today, and continued by saying that “You, Håkan, recognize Jesus; you recognize his voice.”

When we arrived at the hospital, they had bathed Håkan and changed his bandages. They had found a sore on the top of his head which was beginning to get infected and they decided to remove it, so Håkan was heavily sedated when we came.

We went in and talked to Håkan, told about Easter…the Passion Play…the record-breaking audience…the music corps from Tranås…the Easter morning service that was so powerful…and Skåpafors… Håkan moved his lips, but was too tired to answer…but he heard!

Just to be there, stand by Håkan’s bed, and just look at him, is so nice. His face is healing so well. Today, when they changed his bandages, they saw that even his back has patches that are healing on their own, even though Håkan is lying on his back. An answer to prayer…something to give thanks for!

We sang, song after song, and Håkan took it all in, we could see. Josefina sang a worship song which she had received in the middle of everything we’ve gone through as a family. I sang, “Turn your eyes upon Jesus…”, and told Håkan that the Salvation Army music corps had finished with that song when they played in Uddevalla’s square the day before Easter. When Josefina started singing, “We are standing on holy ground, and I know that there are angels all around…,” we could sense that the angels were there, around Håkan’s bed.

We, Jakob, Bella, Josefina, and I, sang ”The Blessing” together, around Håkan’s bed. The nurse said that all the patients should get to hear such a fine song…

Thank you, friends, for all support, prayer, flowers and gifts. Thank you for continuing to pray for Håkan.

God bless you all!
Gunilla

  1. Thank you, Gunilla, for keeping us posted. Your words are so encouraging and inspiring. We pray for you & Hakan, also your children & your church everyday and it is so wonderful to hear about all the little miracles that happen. You have said it - "We'll meet in prayer for Hakan." We love you! Bud & Suellen from Odessa, Missouri in the U.S.A.
