“It’s no secret that God hears prayer…”

Thank you, friends, that you have been with us during this time, and especially today during Håkan’s big surgery. Thank you!

The situation is calm and stable after a long day of surgery. Today, Håkan has burn wounds over 20% of his body, instead of the 80% it was in the beginning. It’s amazing that we are there now – it’s almost a little difficult to take in, but thank goodness, Håkan is there now. Thank you, Lord!!

The hospital staff did a super job today, and didn’t quit until everything they had planned was done. First they operated on the scalp and the back of the head, which were badly damaged in the fire. Previously, they had planed skin from Håkan’s thigh and cultivated it, so it was now ready to be used on his head and hands. The doctors were pleased with the operation. Thank you to all of the staff!!

On the back and feet, they took pigskin, which functions like a bandage. When Håkan’s real skin comes back, the pigskin will disappear, but in the mean time, it has acted as a protection for the skin. Even that operation went well. Thank God!

Now Håkan lies sleeping, and it will take time for him to wake up. On Saturday, they will change the bandages for the first time after the operation.

Our son, Jakob, was with Håkan for two days, and he sat at his father’s side a total of seven hours. He held his dad’s hand, and Håkan didn’t want to let go. They talked about all kinds of things, to the extent that Jakob could understand his lip movements. Håkan asked, among other things, if he had received any letters, to which Jakob answered, “Yes, Mom is taking care of them.” Håkan answered, “Good.”

When we got married in the Church of Joy in Kumla, on Midsummer’s Eve 34 years ago, and promised to love each other ”for better or for worse”, it was a joyous day. During the wedding feast at the Salvation Army later in the afternoon, when we were going to sing, Erik Lundqvist started the song, ”The trials we meet, we often don’t understand…” At that moment, at the wedding, it seemed a little strange, and everyone laughed…but now, after what has happened, we can say that this is the biggest trial we’ve gone through in all these 34 years, and in everything that happens, we see God’s loving care and His goodness to us. Thank you, Jesus!

Someone asked on the blog how it’s going with my arms and right hand. Yes, they have healed so well. I have new skin on my hands, arms and face. I am so thankful that the healing has gone so quickly. “My wounds have healed quickly.” Thank you, Lord!

On Wednesday, Anette and Miguel’s daughter, Roxana, will have surgery. They have found a tumor which can be the cause of her sickness, so please pray for this pastor’s family in Varberg also.

”It’s no secret that God hears prayer. He who wants to pray receives a glorious reward. Your sin He forgives, gives comfortable rest. It’s no secret that God hears prayer.”

Please pray for Håkan’s lungs and the continuation of his skin’s healing process. Thank you for your perseverance in prayer!

God bless you all!
Hugs,
Gunilla
