Perseverance!!!

A word which we understand the meaning of in a deeper way now… We prefer to see quick results… Now we see small miracles, which lay a foundation for the next one…and then we need perseverance!

Håkan must be filled with perseverance in order to have the strength to carry on… One of the staff said, ”Håkan is a calm and secure person, and that helps him in this situation…” Thank you, God, for the security Håkan has in you…give him more of your perseverance.

Today, Sunday, they have changed Håkan’s bandages and looked at his wounds. Tomorrow, on rounds, they will decide what will be done this week – when the next operation will be. Pray for the right decision.

When our girls were there, Håkan mouthed, ”That my wounds will heal quickly…” He wants us to pray that his wounds will heal quickly. Thank you that you’re praying with perseverance…

Håkan’s eyes have become very dry, since he’s had them open the whole time, so last week they said they might need to sew them shut… We prayed, and now they say that Håkan shuts his eyes on his own, so they won’t need to sew them shut…nice. Thank you, Lord, for every little answer to prayer!

Dan and Lotta visited Håkan. They talked about when Peter healed the lame man, in the name of Jesus, and that Håkan will get his health back, but that it will take time, and every little step forward is a little miracle that, in the end…then we pray for perseverance!

”Lord, give me your perseverance, and let Håkan have some of it, so his soul and body can handle the perseverance his spirit has…”

Today the blessed report came again: ”It is calm and stable.” Every day I hear those words, my whole being relaxes, more and more. In those words, I gather strength for the next day, and then the same words come again…and again…then it is easier to live in perseverance!

Now the lists are finished, of everything in the attic and on the second floor, when we bought them, what they cost... It has taken time, but at the same time, it’s been part of the grieving process. Already the first night, as therapy, I started the lists. We have, of course, found quite a few things, which are now being cleaned up, but everything we had to throw away had to be listed, and I have been careful to be honest, so that I can live with a good conscience.

Last Thursday, when Janne and Ulla-Mi were with Håkan, they prayed together and Håkan followed along with a mouthed ”Amen” several times. At the end, he mouthed again, “Greetings”…so we send that greeting on to you all, from Håkan, a mouthed “GREETINGS”.

Thank you for caring, looking at the blog, thinking and praying for us, and that you stand with me in perseverance, so we can see that Håkan’s wounds will heal quickly…

God bless you all!
Many hugs
Gunilla

  1. Dear Gunilla,

Thank you for the update. Yes, calm and stable are wonderful words to hear!

Please know that you and Hakan ARE surrounded by a "great cloud of witnesses" as you move with perseverence through the path God has laid before you.

Hebrews 12:1 was our Vacation Bible School Memory Verse in June 2008. "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."

God bless you and Hakan and the children.
    Praying for you daily.
